Last Call for Downhill Biking

The final day of downhill biking this summer will be Columbus Day, Monday October 8. Bear Cub Quad and the tram will operate from noon to 6 p.m. Rentals, tours and lessons are available at the Daylodge.

Oktoberfest at Alyeska

The second weekend of Oktoberfest festivities will take place Oct. 5 to 7 in the Daylodge. This popular event features authentic German food, drink and polka music, plus local favorites Rebel Blues Band and Nervis Rex perform from 6 p.m. to midnight. The party runs from 1 p.m. to midnight both weekends. Admission is free before 7 p.m. and $5 from 7 p.m. to midnight. Check online for room packages.

Oxygen & Octane Expo

Find your sense of adventure at the Oxygen & Octane Expo at the Dena’ina Center in Anchorage on October 5 - 7. The expo will showcase 50,000 square feet filled with all the things Alaskans love to do in winter. Admission to the show is free and door prizes are plentiful, so make sure to stop by the Alyeska booth where the team will be selling Season Passes and Powder Passes as well as sharing the latest Alyeska Resort news.

Girdwood All Sports Swap

Ski swaps are a great way to upgrade your old gear without spending a fortune and to clean out your closet and make room for new equipment. The Girdwood Community All Sports Swap will take place in the Daylodge on Saturday, Oct. 20 from noon to 5 p.m.

Alyeska Halloween Train

On Saturday, Oct. 27 Alyeska Resort and Alaska Railroad present the Alyeska Halloween Train, a spooktacular train ride down the Turnagain Arm to the Haunted Hotel Alyeska, complete with on-board costume contest with prizes for the best ‘zombie’ costume. Package includes transportation to and from Anchorage, overnight stay, dinner and tickets to the Daylodge concert. Call 265-2494 or go to AlaskaRailroad.com to make a reservation.

Zombie Disco Dance Party

Later on Saturday, the Daylodge will be transformed into a Zombie Disco Dance Party featuring The Funky Hippeez, a live retro revue complete with elaborate costumes and antics reminiscent of the late 70’s disco era. Get creative with your own interpretation of ‘zombie disco’. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is $15 advance and $20 day of show. Advance tickets are available online or by calling 754-2275 or online. 21 and over only.

Kid’s Halloween Carnival

Bring the whole family to the Kid’s Carnival at the Daylodge on Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. for games, scary stories, candy bar walk, kid’s costume parade and costume contest. Admission is $3 per person or $10 for immediate family members and proceeds benefit the Girdwood PTA.

2012/13 season passes are on sale now and pre-season pricing ends Monday, Oct. 31. Don’t forget that you can take any unused days on your Ten X Powder Pass from last season and apply the remaining credit towards the purchase of a 2012/13 pass, but to take advantage of the rollover you will need to purchase your 2012/13 pass by October 31. Passes can be purchased either online, at the Tram Ticket Office or by calling 754-2275.
